Opti & Butterfly Racing Skills
This class is for sailors completing beginning sailing and are looking to learn racing tactics, signal flags, courses, starts, roundings, efficient tacks and jibes. It is also for racers looking to improve their skills and take their racing to the next level. We have some seasoned instructors that are ready to teach you all the top secret tips to make a boat go fast, including racing theory, and advanced racing tactics. The classes will be split according to skill level. Parents will receive an every other week postcard noting skills their sailor has mastered,
Regatta Race Team
Includes four Friday Regattas; a Clinic at Butterfly Nationals with a Melges Pro or the Green Fleet Opti Regatta; on-the-water coaching from two of our own whalers for Opti and Butterfly courses, coaching help with boat setup, and Regatta Race team shirts. Race Coaches will attend the Friday Regattas, and a postcard of take-aways from the race coaches will be given to parents after each Friday Regatta. Boat set-up for the regattas will take place after Racing Skills on Thursday afternoon for the Friday Regattas.
*For racers who are able to attend only one or two regattas, you may pay up front for the regattas at $50 per regatta, or $65 on race day.
Racing at SLYC
Open to all SLJSA sailing school students that are capable of sailing a boat on their own. Every Wednesday afternoon between June 21 - August 9 there will be a Butterfly and Opti race starting at 1pm. Wednesday races are included in your sailing school registration fee. (No Wednesday races 7/19 & 8/2...because of regattas)
