Help Support Our Waterfront Improvement Project
Summary of project:
In the summer of 2012 what began as a vision by our Commodore has turned into a reality – an overhaul of our existing waterfront infrastructure. The initial concept has gone through multiple feasibility studies and the permitting process; culminating with a lease extension from the Village of Spring Lake through 2073.
The SLJSA (Spring Lake Junior Sailing Association) design and engineering team has worked along with Edgewater Resources to create a safe, strong and economical docking solution that will help enhance, educate and insure the longevity of our sailing school for many, many years to come. It will not only accommodate the changing waterfront conditions, but will help aid boaters and sailors alike.
We are almost there with the exception of getting 100% membership participation for this project. We’ve spoken with many of you and we need to get everyone on board to support this tremendous undertaking. With your help and financial support, we are estimating completion before the 2015 sailing season.
Scope of work:
- Update dilapidated infrastructure while addressing fluctuating water levels
- Provide a wake free environment which makes ingress/egress safe and efficient for both our sailboats and recreational powerboats
- Increase our capacity and flexibility to meet the needs of our expanding number of boats, sailors and usage patterns
- Provide our junior sailors with a safe harbor to make beach launching and setup more tranquil
- Extend our lease agreement with the Village of Spring Lake for an additional 60 years

Help Support Our Summer Sailing School
Spring Lake Junior Sailing Association is a non-profit organization, for the purpose of promoting the instruction of sailing and water safety. Tuition at our sailing school is kept as low as possible to make learning to sail affordable and accessible to everyone.
The tuition covers only direct operating costs. For all capital additions, the school depends on contributions from the community including, monetary and donations of equipment.
Do you have a sailboat that you are no longer using? Boats that we would love to have donated include the Optimist Dingy, Butterfly, Laser and 420's or any other small boat that would be fun for kids.
We are always in need of boat parts for repairs. If you have any parts for Opti or Butterfly's, chances are we could use them!
